Charting tomorrow for a century-old titan of industry
As one of the largest companies in Papua New Guinea, Steamships Trading Company’s influence runs deep and wide. For more than 100 years, its shipping, transport, property, and hospitality operations have shaped the island nation.
Despite Steamships’ long history in PNG, people saw it as Western-owned. With investment in local projects on the horizon, Steamships wanted to partner with rising national leaders. The company asked for visual style and tone of voice guidelines to revitalise its image for a new era.

The voice of progress
I presented Steamships as the partner for sustained growth in Papua New Guinea. The tone of voice celebrates the company’s trailblazing spirit and sea-faring origins.


Informed by tradition
I highlighted Steamships’ loyalty to Papua New Guinea through its heritage. Motuan markings and nautical signal flags inspired the visual style. The modular design lent to versatile application to a variety of corporate collateral.

With a redefined identity, Steamships was set to embrace its role as the flagship Papua New Guinea needs. As the stars guided the sailors, a clear vision will keep Steamships on course in future.
